What to do in Prague
Visit Prague Castle
The famous Prague Castle lords over the city, consists of multiple sections: St. Vitus Cathedral, the Old Royal Palace, The Story of Prague Castle, St. George’s Basilica, Golden Lane with Daliborka Tower, the Powder Tower, and Rosenberg Palace. You can buy a ticket to any or all of these sights from the box office. The most famous structure is St. Vitus Cathedral — this is the large building you see when you look up at the castle from outside the city walls.
Visit John Lennon Wall
Toward the end of Communism, students started writing John Lennon lyrics on this wall as a way to air their grievances. Today, the wall represents love and peace.
Eat a Pork Knuckle
This meat lovers dish, also known as Koleno, is a rather large hunk of pork knee and is very popular in Czech cuisine. Expect the meat to be marinated in beer and served with pickled vegetables and dark Czech bread.
Climb the Steps to Petrin Hill
Petrin is a hill on the left bank of the Vltava River, it offers great views of the city. It is a pleasant walk to the top of the hill and there are plenty of benches to rest your legs on whilst admiring the view on the way up. At the summit, you will find a miniature Eiffel Tower, landscaped gardens and the unusual Church of St Michael.
Explore the Old Town Square
Here you’ll find the Astronomical Clock, its detail and artistry make it one of the most beautiful in Europe. The beautiful Tyn and St. Nicholas churches ring the square and under the Old Town Hall, you’ll find a series of catacombs worth exploring.
Take a day trip to Kutná Hora
The town is famous for its bone church, Sedlec Ossuary, which contains 40,000-70,000 bones. Since the church takes only about 15 minutes to see, head into the historic city centre to see some of Kutná Hora’s other attractions, including medieval churches, overlooks, well-preserved streets, and a town square.
Spot Sigmund Freud
Walk through the sublime urban area of Stare Mesto within the Old Town and look to the sky. You will find a seven-foot-tall sculpture of Sigmund Freud hanging from a metal beam above the cobbled streets.
